Hooray, this is my 3rd year of participation in Bead Soup Blog Party! What a great experience! I truly hope for much more!
I've met (direct or indirect) a lot of great creative wonderful ladies, with a lot of beautiful and inspiring stories, a lot of different styles and visions, all creative and with a love for beauty and life! I am very happy to be a part of such a movement, like uniting and exchanging not only beads but experiences and points of view, challenging each other and giving inspiration.
Along the Parties I've had plenty of inspiration, each time challenging myself to do and be more.
First of all I would love to thank Lori, the GREAT woman behind all this, who, despite of her challenges in life, she still manages to bring us happiness and keep us together. Great project Lori, I hope you'll have many many more even more successful and loved!
This year my partner is a wonderful lady from Germany, Birgit Klughardt who makes amazingly beautiful crochet ropes from tiny cute seed beads! She's a great woman and I'm happy I had the chance to chat a little and get to know her better! And I really hope we'll meet for real pretty soon, maybe this summer I'll manage to have the weekend trip to Berlin I wish for!
I am so excited I have one of her ropes. I must admit I never had the patience to crochet more than a few cm from an easy pattern rope so I never made crocheted ropes. but I truly want to do it someday! She sent me an wowowow bead soup, I was so amazed to discover all the little treasures in each of the sachets! I love them all and I really wanted to use the fabulous focal, a pendant made by Birgit from a cork dressed with a weave of tiny seed beads (using a free tutorial by Mapede)! And of course the crocheted rope, which is so beautiful that I wanted to make sure every little part of it is visible! All the beads are wonderful and I'll use them on future projects very soon ( the lampwork beads - by Mea von Fauch- are so wonderful I can't wait to find and buy the perfect matching beads to enhance them in a superb design i have in mind!)

I didn't have any clue what iI was going to do with them. But as I usually do, when I don't know or I'm not sure, I just put them aside and let them become what they want. And so, I literally followed the beads!
Since the focal was so light and in an earthy brown tone, I was sure it goes perfectly with some of the beautiful wood beads I was saving for only wonderful designs and since it was paired with turquoise I remembered I bought recently a mix of coral and turquoise dyed howlite and, of course, with my amazing huge (heavy weighted) yellow turquoise rondelles. But still, didn't have any idea how to use the focal and how to put all things together. until one night. When.... Evrika! I've imaged a big bold necklace with great tribal influences and the focal so perfectly embraced by the coconut wood thorns! I was so excited and when I finally had it done I was wow! I love it!
So here it is, using stringing and a bit of embroidery, from the beautiful beaded beads - made by Birgit- and the handmade clasp -made by Jil- and some other beads and other beads and elements I received from Birgit or the ones I had (huge wood beads, yellow turquoise rondelles, lampwork glass rings, turquoise rondelles, died howlite, white coral, copper beads and bead caps, coconut wood thorns) I made this fabulous piece:

Well that was kinda easy. At least the putting together after I figured out what I was going to use.
Now it's time to use the rope in a wonderful way. Well I must admit it was a hard job to do. And that's because I wanted something complex and I didn't had the beads she used in her rope. Except for 2 tiny bags of matte gold Toho beads, very recenlty bought (at the beginning of last week, actually) and by chance, for another project not especially fo this (Now i'll have to buy some more haha) . I looked into my stash, searching for some beads I could use and will match and finally I found some chrysocolla focals that contrast nicely with the earthy look of the rope and noticed that the beautiful polished bone elements were so perfectly fit in this mix! I've put some more toho seed beads, Myiuki drop beads and twin beads and made this marvelous piece which makes me remember of the ancient Egyptian luxury and their God of Sun, Ra!

- Kumkumbatia - (Swahili) "hug, embrace" for the tribal necklace

Oh wow. I love that you turned the rope into a seed bead design rather than just strung it. It looks amazing. Your designs are unique and beautiful.
You played big with your soup and made two very different but equally eye-catching necklaces! The tribal has a very bold and wild structure and the beaded one is very regal. The beaded rope was self-sufficient but you didn't hesitate to make it even more ornamental to suit your design. Great pieces!

The initial thought for the rope when I saw it is to string it in a necklace, with some other beads, maybe in a multi strand necklace so that it's entirely exposed. But it was only a thought and didn't really like it or had an idea what to use and how to do it so I waited 'til this one came up! I am incomparable more satisfied about the result now, than I would have been if I made something with the initial thought.
I love stringing as well but it's not always the best solution :P

Well, that's me, my style: more in one :)) I'm not chameleonic, I just embrace more feelings and ideas, even if they can be very different. And so, I can make and wear a lot of different things, style, etc, depending on my mood, feelings, intuition, desires, etc .
